The operating room at Royal Hospital Hurghada witnessed an exceptional medical event, following a precise and complex surgical procedure to correct a case of foot deformity resulting from a previous accident and a series of consecutive surgeries the patient had undergone after the injury.
The surgery was led by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Abu Amira, with the participation of the internationally renowned Italian expert Alexander Kirienko, one of the world’s pioneers in orthopedic surgery and deformity correction. Their presence in Hurghada came on the sidelines of the International Conference of the Orthopedic Department, Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar University in Assiut.
A distinguished group of orthopedic surgery consultants also participated in the procedure, including:

Alongside a group of doctors from the Orthopedic Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar University in Assiut, in a medical collaboration that reflects the value of exchanging expertise between Egyptian and international professionals inside Royal Hospital Hurghada.
This case is considered one of the highly complex cases in the field of orthopedic surgery and deformity correction, due to the nature of the deformity caused by a previous injury and the multiple surgical interventions that followed.
After a precise medical assessment of the case, the surgical intervention was successfully performed using the Ilizarov device, one of the advanced techniques used in treating and correcting bone deformities and improving the function of the affected limb.
The surgery lasted for more than five hours inside the operating room, with full coordination between the surgical team, anesthesia team, and nursing staff.
This success reflects a high level of precision and medical skill, and confirms Royal Hospital Hurghada’s readiness to receive and perform delicate and complex surgeries across various specialties.
